No company has the absolute power to pass on all costs to consumers... Depends on whether you're looking at a microeconomic level or a macro. If you eliminated the corporate income tax on all Oil companies tomorrow, you would see a rapid decline in the price of oil-based products that would correspond with the tax decrease. Prices are determined by competitive markets. Ultimately, the return necessary to promote capital formation is what is required, and in a competitive marketplace, such as the oil companies, the competition will drive prices down such that market returns are provided. Corporations never pay taxes. Only their customers. Like I said.
