Sometimes traditions of the church are so misleading. As an example we as Christians observe Good Friday as the day of crucifiction and Sunday as the day of resurrection, more specifically the morning of the sabbath.
There is a little help in the bible as one account of the mentions the day of preparation of the sabbath, which was usually associated with a feast or a high sabbath. These feasts were held on a Wednesday and the preparation for the feast was held the Tuesday before. Since the Jews wanted to break the legs of the condemned so they could be buried before the sabbath this means that Jesus died on a Tuesday or the day of preparation. If this true then Jesus was in the grave three days as he said Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights or from sundown Tuesday to sundown Friday. Then when Mary went to the grave on the sabbath morning or that Saturday the grave was empty. Since it specifically mentions that Christ died on a day of preparation for the sabbath I assume that there are days of preparation only for high sabbaths. If anyone knows if there are days of preparations for regular sabbaths it would further illustrate my assumptions, if it turns out there are only days of preparations for high sabbaths..In Christ gregor
