The average Big 3 car has $1,500 just for health care costs built into the price....the average Japanese car by comparison has only $110.00. And that is just for health care...also the costs for penetrating the Japanese market effectively close off that market to US automakers....

Japan has national health care. And in their US manufacturing a much younger work force without the legacy cost for retirees. National health care (without employer participation) would make a lot of US companies more competitive.
