WAKCBYWDS.EXE and other stuff ...

Windows seems to be a veritable breeding ground for programs with really weird names doing even stranger things. Type "DIR *.EXE /S" at the DOS prompt and you'll and you'll see screens of this stuff scrolling by.

A hint: Use an on-line search engine, such as YAHOO, and put in the file name you're investigating. You'll be amazed at the quantity, and quality, of information this brings to your screen. It's never failed to enlighten me yet.

Cheers. PW.

P.S. I just made up the filename WAKCBYWDS.EXE for this post. It doesn't exist. (I think!)

P.P.S. I just can't help this. In England, "W.C." stands for "Water Closet", the name they use for a toilet. It boggles the imagination to consider what a program called "Load WC" actually does?
