Broadband Up 44%; Co Says Has No News To Explain Rise

Dow Jones Newswires

CHARLOTTE -- A spokesman for BroadBand Technologies Inc. (BBTK) said
the company had no news that explains the 48% rise in the company's shares
Monday.

"I haven't found anything that would qualify as news that would cause the
stock to do what it is," Executive Vice President Rick Jones said.

The company continues to work "feverishly" with its financial advisor, CIBC
Oppenheimer Corp., to complete a financial restructuring plan intended to help
retain BroadBand's listing on the Nasdaq National Market, Jones said.

But when the plan would be completed "is hard to say," he said. Asked if it
could be by the end of the year, Jones said that deadline "seems quick with the
holidays and all."

As reported, Nasdaq on Nov. 13 granted Broadband Technologies an extension
for continued listing in order to provide the company time to complete its
financial plan. The company won't release the deadline associated with the
extension.

"We didn't specify the deadline but have said we think there's plenty of time to
get the restructuring done in time," Jones said.

Shares of BroadBand Technologies recently were up 1 1/2 to 4 5/8. Volume
was 753,800 shares, or nearly five times average daily volume of 153,400.
