I always respected Reagan, just didn't like some of his policies and most of the crooks he let run things for him, like the white collar criminals that instigated the S+L debacle, and the ones who shuttered Carter's wonderful solar program.

Bush is like Reagan without all the good qualities. Or like Nixon without the competence. Bush learned the wrong lessons from Reagan. He took the worst of Reagan's policies, like mammoth deficit spending, the pandering wedge issues, the over-privatization and deregulation, and allowing industry to gouge to their hearts content, but he left behind the diplomacy, the willingness to work with others and the maturity. Bush also doesn't have a Nancy. Laura may be sweet, but she has never done a thing to curtail her husband's misdeeds.

Reagan and Bush-Cheney may share a lot of views, but Reagan cared about this country, Bush-Cheney care only about themselves and their fat cat cronies. Pretty big difference.

Also, Reagan apologized and took responsibility for Iran-Contra and Beirut. Bush has yet to apologize for any of his huge failures, deliberate lies and high crimes. You be the judge. Does Bush have character? Only poor character.
