<<"Luckily, Wilson has made a habit of thriving without surrounding top-tier talent." ... Say what?

I find that to be an extremely accurate statement. Russell Wilson is definitely an elite quarterback entering his prime and his new contract certainly reflects that. Top-tier talent beside and in front of him has been somewhat sparse in his 8 season's where he made 2 SuperBowl appearances and earned a ring, however. >>

I'll maintain my position that top tier talent has been part of the organization and Wilson is thriving because of it. The tremendous defense of the Seahawks for the last decade has given Wilson the ball in good field position dozens and dozens of times through turnovers and 3 and outs. The original statement is "luckily" but it's not luck. IMO professional football is the ultimate team game. It really does take half a hundred top athletes or more, good coaching, and a bit of luck to win a championship. Not to take anything from Wilson who I consider a possible top ten or better all time QB.

<< nor is Lockett in a class with Cooper on the offensive side of the ball. >>

This season will answer the question of just how good Lockett can be. IMO it's entirely possible he's 1st team All Pro this year now that Baldwin and Graham are gone.

<<They most certainly don't have a running back of Zeke's caliber in their run 1st offense >>

No they don't but a running game by committee with 1000 yd Carson the committee head might again put up better rushing numbers than Dallas.

Won't quibble.

<<That said, any team with a preseason ranking in the consensus top dozen could play in the SuperBowl this year. Over the course of the next 17 weeks injuries will play a big role in the fate of many preseason contenders. >>

It is so unfortunate that injuries do play such a big role. I hope professional football can deal with the concussion problem and maybe some day with knee injuries as well.
