“What governs men is the fear of the truth.” Henri Amiel Facing Our Fears Isaiah 41:10
There is no doubt that the Lord has something special planned for your life. But the question is, Are you ready to receive it? Although we desire to experience the wonderful things God has in store for us, one of the most subtle inhibitors of God’s blessings is fear.
Our fears have many sources: things we have learned, guilt, shame, doubt, and insecurity. But the origin of fear is actually sin. In (Genesis 3:8-10), we read the story of how Adam and Eve experienced fear for the first time after they ate from the forbidden tree and felt shame before God.
Since that time, Satan has used the emotion of fear to entangle unsuspecting believers in webs of bondage. Essentially, we often miss God’s blessings because we are afraid to step up and receive them. Instead, we shrink away into the land of “what if’s”–What if I fail? What if people laugh at me?
To all those who have said these things, God has a response: Trust Me. For us to do this, three things are necessary: we must identify our fears, ask God to reveal the reason for our fears, and then stand on the promises of His Word.
Read Isaiah 41:10 again. God does not want you to live in fear. He does not want you to experience constant anxiety. Instead, He promises to strengthen you and uphold you with His right hand. Do you believe Him? Step out from the shadows of fear today and reach for His strong hand. The results just might surprise you!
