“The fear of God kills all other fears.” Hugh Black

How to Conquer Your Fears
Psalm 34:4

Today is a solemn anniversary. One year ago today, the fears of millions became a vivid reality when one of history’s most heinous acts of terrorism was perpetrated on the world. We are talking, of course, about the terrorist attacks on New York City and the United States Pentagon, simultaneous assaults that took the lives of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. You probably remember where you were when you first heard about the attacks. You also may recall the sense of utter fear that filled your soul as you watched news reports of crashing airplanes, crumbling buildings, and massive loss of life. Is my city next? Am I safe? What about my family? We all asked questions like these. For a while, it seemed as though fear dictated our every move. In the months following, however, the entire world witnessed something amazing. In the midst of tragedy, people of all races, nationalities, and economic backgrounds pulled together and worked in unity. Lives were saved, families were comforted, and endless tons of rubble were cleared. The message rang out: Terror cannot overcome us if we do not allow it to. God has given us a bold spirit (2 Tim 1:7) and the promise of deliverance from our fears. (Psalm 34:4) Looking back over the past year, it is obvious that He has kept His promise. Thank Him for His powerful gift of strength and power in the face of fear.
