Panel component makers see on-month increase in February revenues

Panel component makers saw an on-month increase in their February revenues due to recent rush orders. Makers such as Nano Electro-Optical Technology (Nano-Op) and Efun Technology saw their consolidated revenues increase by 40-50% on month, while Forhouse saw a growth of around 30-40% and Radiant Opto-Electronics Corporation (ROEC) around 20%, according to industry sources.

IC packaging and testing and substrate vendors see uptick in utilization rates

Most Taiwan-based IC packaging and testing players as well as IC substrate companies have seen an improvement in their utilization rates due to a rebound in orders from MediaTek. MediaTek recently revised its first quarter guidance to a sequential sales growth of 8-13%, instead of a 8-16% decline projected previously, according to market sources.

Notebook panel shipments to recover in 2Q09

Notebook panel shipments are expected to see a more obvious recovery in the second quarter, according to Chen-Lung Kuo, VP of sales and marketing in Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO).

Both monitor and TV panels have already seen a recovery in shipments and the delay of notebook panel growth is due to notebook makers still adjusting inventory, added Kuo.
