Nice story. I suggest you copy at least a select paragraph with your links.

gasandoil.com

This, the scientists say, will mean runaway global warming of as much as 10.5 degrees centigrade this century as carbon dioxide and methane escape from melting permafrost and sediments on continental shelves; the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets disintegrate; and ocean circulation slows down, which paradoxically will cool Europe as the warm Gulf Stream is diverted while accelerating warming in much of the rest of the globe.

The "top 700" warn that there will be widespread coastal flooding, the collapse of many ecosystems, declining crop yields, worsening droughts and spreading mosquito-borne diseases unless "adaption strategies" are prepared now. Of course, the cynics, intellectual sceptics and assorted pesto-buying liberals, green activists and pinkos might have George Bush Jr badly wrong. He really might have an alternative plan for saving the planet from environmental disaster, as his spokesmen assert. Who knows, he might be right to have urged the opening up of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, one of the world's finest pristine wildernesses, to drilling by oil and gas companies.

I'm sure Bush reads, or is told, about possible projections like this. I'll make a wager that his response goes something along the lines of: But the real question is, will I George W. Bush be President, if, or when, that happens? The answer is no! Let's drill! Put out the press release that it's not sound science; say we need to study it more..oh, don't forget to cut the NASA funding to study global climate changes. Where's my baseball cap?
