He exploded the last shred of pretense about Social Security when he said he couldn't guarantee he'd have the cash to write SS checks - even though the pay roll tax revenue is going to continue to flow in unabated.

We all know they spent the surplus, now everyone should know that the entire pay role tax has nothing particularly to do with SS. It's just revenue that the President can spend on what ever the hell he feels like.

And when they come back next year and tell SS is in trouble so we need to raise the pay role tax we will know what a complete non sequitur that is.
