Jaime; The perennial love for the underdog, the downtrodden, etc. When Apple was flying high many were aggravated at the prices and there was not so much love in the air. Now there is a circling of wagons phenomenon. There are privately funded PC sites as I have come across them from time to time, with no ads. Fewer messianic types though, fewer threats to their ongoing existence. Apple has had the ability to solve their problems for many years, however they were under extreme pressure to make the stock move up, and the only way to do that was with fat margins, and then when there was another choice comparable to Apple people took it, and sales dropped and the fat cats stuck to the guns at Apple, and went down the drain, losing billions because it was in the bank already there to lose with no jerking feeling as you run out of money as poor companies do when they act the fool without deep pockets. The fat cats are all gone now, and the operation is much leaner(there were hugely wasteful practices at Apple when money flowed, these are largely gone now). The key is price as people will not buy expensive glory, no matter what, as they(rightly or wrongly) feel the two platforms are functionally equal but Apple has less sofware, and so buy Wintels. The only approach is to cover the earth with Apples, many of them clones. Bill |
