IBM announced their engineers have developed a disk capable of storing 11.6 billion bits of data per square inch of disk space. This is greater than twice now available. Commercial product not ready until 2001 they say. Hope SEG keeps up. Found this info. on the Ampex (APX) thread. Complete URL on article from WSJ posted there.
