Greg - Re:"Exponential"

This company made their first disclosure late last year. If they can get it out and into production, it will be a real COUP. It is supposed to be a PowerPC equivalent architecture.

As for BiCMOS - Intel's Pentium & Pentium Pro have been in BiCMOS since their introductions (1992/3 Pentium & 1995 Pentium Pro).

My recollection is that Exponential was going to use a Bipolar core with CMOS peripheral circuitry on the same chip.

If they pull this off, I think it will look kinda bad for IBM & Motorola - unless one of these companies is fabricating the device for Exponential.

When it arrrives, and what kind of system performance comes with it - that will be the time to draw conclusions.

Bipolar circuitry is no where near as dense as CMOS/BiCMOS - thus, their die size, yields and overall cost structure need to be factored in as well.
