Oh now you make the distinction between a general course and advanced placement. Why don't you just admit you were exaggerating to make your point.

I have gone through curriculums of several good high schools in Manhattan, and that's how they offer it. I stress good high schools.

Based on my college experience, many students had to take remedial courses to get to Calculus (at least first semester of it). Many couldn't make it, and switched from their original choice of major to some BS major, like psychology.

So? I didn't take calculus in high school nor college. It was not required. Are you suggesting someone majoring in English Lit. should take calculus? If so why?

That's exactly what I am saying. In other countries, more is expected of students, and they meat the expectations. In the US, people give up, and hope to BS their way through life.
