Does anyone here remember seeing Larry interviewed by Bob Cringely in "Triumph of the Nerds?" After seeing that for the first time a couple years ago I knew that I had to get involved with Oracle somehow. People say that Steve Jobs projects a reality distortion field? Ellison makes him look like a 3 watt bulb!

The most interesting thing about the interview, IMO, is what Larry said about the NC (although I don't think he referred to them as NC's then). More precisely, I was taken by his vision for what the NC could someday become. So what did I come away with from that interview besides the desire to get into ORCL?

Well, here's a multi*B*illionaire with the guts, hubris, vision, and money to make things happen. He's made money in the tech sector, so he knows the ropes.

I'm willing to give Larry some space. The ridiculously high rate of change in the tech sector makes a company like ORCL as safe a bet as any other out there.

Let's see what happens this spring. Barring a paradigm shift that has people communicating via PEZ dispensers, I think Oracle will do all right. Hell, they'll probably be into the PEZ thing somehow...<g>
