The Internet makes it quite possible to keep track of the hiring trends at these companies. I would be willing to do this on a weekly basis and putting up the results if the idea is sound and there is interest.

Great idea on jobs data.

I had an old boss that used to keep a tally of the number of help wanted pages in the San Jose Mercury News Sunday edition just for this purpose.

I have heard that if you have the right skills, there is no problem finding a job but that many on H1B visa's from India that write java are now working for very low rates so they can stay here. Maybe contract labor rates would also be worth charting?
