Richard, it took time to read even some of the AIDS research document that you found for us. It appears to be quite important because it documents a long history of trials and failures of a host of AIDS treatments derived from alternative medicine. The historical failure of non-traditional AIDs treatments in clinical trials will provide a stong backdrop of skepticism as PRLN attempts to go down the same road. Another point of real interest is the fact that FDA previously gave another natural substance clearance to be investigated as an "Investigational New Drug" (IND) despite the fact that the active substance of the natural compound had not been isolated (a very expensive proposition). This gives hope that FDA may grant IND status to PN355 under the same special provision. Finally, I noted another cautionary note: namely, that Andrographis paniculata (i.e., presumably PN355) was "very potent" and thus just as likely to have toxicity as any other pharmacological substance. I'll print out this document for additional reading and future reference--just as soon as I buy an extra ream of paper! I hope that all of PRLN supporters will have a chance to read this very important, somewhat sobering review of research involving non-traditional AIDS treatments. Note, though that the publication date was June, 1994, which means that the information it contains is now almost three years old. Thanks again, Bill in St. Louis
