Daniel--- Your insult of James Q. Wilson is unbecoming. Not only is there a problem with gang uniforms and competition over clothing (the shootings I mentioned a few months ago were over Eddie Bauer jackets), but Wilson has largely been proven right in his thesis about the importance of countering vandalism. Small things can make a difference. In any event, the man is practically universally respected, including among liberal academics...
