It seems like tech companies need to have a lot of patents to protect themselves from patent trolls like Intellectual Ventures. You misunderstand patent wars and patent trolling. Huge patent chest can protect you from patent wars and offensive of other productive companies. It cannot protect you from patent trolls. Only paying up or court victory can work with patent trolls.
