Let's take one guy who's in the headlines a lot these days: Henry Paulson:

Looks like he's had decades of Wall Street and investment banking experience before he got nominated by Bush to succeed Tony Snow as Treasury Secretary.

How about Condi Rice?

Professor of political science, specializing in the former Soviet Union. Also served on the Council on Foreign Affairs. A great choice for National Security Advisor and later Sec. of State.

I don't know about you, but it's very easy for me to find examples of good appointees in the otherwise failed Bush administration.

Now how about that question of mine? "Let's start with the governor of Michigan and the mayor of L.A. on Obama's economic advisory board. Neither of them have any economic background whatsoever, so how come they are on that board?"
