Hi Luis, one caviat. A slowly increasing volume as a stock price drops often precedes a price spike. (I only use this when I believe a stock price should be higher than it is; and only with potentially above average expectations).

Then price leads volume until the volume goes up massively. Then the volume again can predict a downward drift.

This does not work on most stocks. There is not always a clear pattern between price and volume. But I have noticed very clear patterns in most of the biotechs and in some high techs (communications and semicond). In my opinion, there are massive bases forming, especially in biotech (communications is a bit more risky because of the constant deregulation going on, what's the new rule?). If you have trouble reading a chart, don't try. This only seems to work when you can see the pattern we have talked about, and with good companies. It's not a substitute for good research, but it can give one confidence in what's going on and allow one to buy a stock at the right time, or sell, or hang on. There's nothing worse than selling a great stock because of a predictible price decline when there are indications that it is about to go back up.
