from CBS marketwatch: Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND) fell 3.1 percent despite better-than-expected earnings and positive analyst comments. The company posted first-quarter net income of 26 cents a share, a penny ahead of estimates, on revenue of $305.1 million.ÿ UBS Securities upgraded the shares to "buy" from "hold," and Goldman Sachs analyst Ajay Diwan said the company has a stronger fundamental outlook. Nevertheless, shares fell 1 1/4 to 38 5/8.
