I think that the only person who ought to short these stocks is someone who already has several billion dollars and wants a few billion more. I would do it if I could afford to hold a badly losing position for a year, but I can't afford to fork over an extra $50,000 every time YHOO gets a wild hair.

Happily for smaller fry (like me) who want to gamble, there are those LEAPS.
