I agree. Spent some time this holiday season in two good-sized CC stores. Sales staff young, chatting among themselves, and not responsive to customers. When queried they had little or no technical knowledge about cell phones, service availability etc. Store manager unavailable in both places. Stores messy and inventory disorganized. Signs of deferred maintenance everywhere -- a sure sign of an organization in trouble.

Workers admitted that they had little or no training and that staff turnover was high.

In contrast, in VZ factory-owned shop, very busy and very helpful. Upgraded a couple of phones in a few minutes.

It is clear that the sale of cell phones in big box retailers is a thing of the past. They aren't interested.
