Regional sporting goods retailer, Big 5 Sporting Goods: Fwiw, BGFV meets my criteria for a value stock, and I'm in for a few shares. Relatively low p/e, p/sales, p/stated book. Dividend while waiting.

Other sporting goods chains I've looked at (e.g. Dick's) are not priced for me.

Very competitive business. BGFV's idea seems to be to be to focus on small stores (vs. the mega-size stores of competitors), and thus provide less choice in products sold. Maybe selling on price -- e.g. having last year's shoe styles vs. latest/greatest. Also seem to blanket area with full-page ads. Maybe this is a reasonable business plan -- I don't know. Stock seems like a value to me at today's price, but company could wind up as a value trap or worse.
