...Also laser technologies have a low upper migration path (the ability to manufacture faster and faster read-write mediums) because information is retreived at the speed of the particular light wave. Technology is still not sophisticated enough to increase the frecuency on the wave of light on which info travels. Lightwaves have a particular speed, naturally -not highter, not lower. Manufactures have tried to deal with this for years, but the alternatives carry high costs and reach only limited speeds.

As we keep experiencing, consumers keep demanding faster storage access to info. due to the explosion of software intensive programs (image, sound, interactive, etc. and the fact that these documents are being sent over the Net.)
