Ditto. We were about to start our family and knew it would be our last major trip for quite awhile.

You probably know I'm a life long history maven. Art is such an important part of the history of our civilization that we've hit at least one major art museum on every overseas adventure. Set aside what we thought would be plenty of time, for the Louvre, and wasn't even close! Invested every morning, breakfast til lunch, for an entire week. Saw just about HALF of what they have. The scale of the place and the vastness of the collection is simply staggering!!

Unless I'm mistaken, it's the largest royal palace, currently in use, on the planet. Was used by the French monarchy before Louis XIV (aka The Sun King) expanded Versailles beginning in the 1680s. Another site worth visiting. But, that's another story for another time.
