update unbuntu 14.10 FAIL. update-manager xv repository below I attempted to run update-manager from a command line in a root terminal. I always set a root password and create a root account. A style I prefer over sudo this and sudo that. The process kept failing, Finally figured out that some repository I had used no longer existed. geekconnection.org karmic/ domain was inactive. did the usual search trying to find someone who had had the problem and someone gave the answer. arrrrgghhhh! Finally found PackageManagerTroubleshootingProcedure help.ubuntu.com From this and executing the various commands and looking at the files found file /etc/apt/sources.list this file is the list of repositories where update are found. gedit /etc/apt/sources.list edited out the offending bad repositories and all now works. ##deb geekconnection.org karmic/ ## deb-src geekconnection.org karmic/ Sell message Message 29493901 xv repository dumb me I had found name of the sources list back when .....
