>>FREMONT, Calif. -October 16, 1997- SyQuest (NASDAQ:SYQT), the inventor of the high performance cartridge category, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the company's application for the federal registration of the trademark "SYJET". In prior correspondence, the Patent and Trademark Office stated that it had searched its records and found no similar registered or pending mark which would bar the registration of "SYJET"

I guess this leaves Iomega with egg on its face in its lawsuit against Syquest.<<

Don't forget that the lawsuit isn't just about a word. There are also allegations of patent infringement with respect to cartridge design. These are the more important aspects of the lawsuit.

I happen to agree that Iomega even mentioning the "Jet" thing in the suit was frivolous.
