If you had paid attention to the sniper case in the DC area, you would have found that military help in tracking down the snipers was hampered by the Posse Comitatus law, and that that is the situation in which it arose. The government can always declare martial law, or call out the National Guard in a state of emergency, for example, for riot control. Where it counts is in coordinating certain activities, like helicopter surveillance and crime scene investigation, with civilian authorities. Once again, ignorance is behind your rant........
