Hey mark! Remember we were talking about taking my new sporty mouse through the car wash and you cautioned me to remember to put the top up? Well, it works better with the top off! Go figure! This model (Logitech First Mouse +) has a screw through the bottom that allows the top to come off and makes cleaning the wheels real easy. My mouse felt like it was rolling on gravel and I actually thought it was the mouse pad that was getting old. But when I looked inside the mouse I found the rings of crud around the middle of the wheels. It's amazing how smooth it works when it's running right.
