The CUBE/DVx news at a price point of $199 is incredible news. Sigma responded with its own press release -- a board at $999. CUBE is a great buy at these prices, although it may take some time for the market to grasp the significance of this announcement. Of course, it would help if CUBE's "announcement" was more positive, more aggressive, and more widely disseminated than the weak squeeky fart of a press release it let slip out of its PR department. Perhaps it's worried about cannibalization of sales, but from what I understand this is a home unit without the features of a professional-level encoder even though the quality of the MPEG-2 video will in fact be professional.
