Speaking of surprises... Bernanke recently said something to the effect that what the Fed can do for the economy is limited. That was a surprise -- the fool is learning. He is actually getting something through his thick skull.

So, who knows... Maybe Obama will announce that he will no longer pursue exclusively top down collectivist policies, that he will fight against excessive regulation and other interferences with business... Yeah, that would be a great surprise, and maybe it would even get him reelected, but it won't happen. My bet is that his surprise will be yet another, greater and fatter redistributionist scheme, with huge bribes and benefits to favored constituencies. He will want to build bridges, build schools, etc. -- all his projects will have one thing in common, and that is -- that the government knows better what to do with our nation's remaining wealth....
