'Getting it done'. Yup, if deconstructing the nation is his goal (it is, isn't it?)

His foreign policy is a shambles, the terrorists have had a nice respite, the economy is a shambles. Oh, and how has he done on his domestic campaign promises?

PROMISE:
High priority funding for Children's hospitals.
GETTING IT DONE:
His 2004 budget reduces funding for Children's hospitals by 30%.

PROMISE:
Funding for emergency first responders.
GETTING IT DONE:
Cut grants to state and local first responders by $150m.

PROMISE:
Support for ethanol for less reliance on foreign oil.
GETTING IT DONE:
Budget eliminates funding for bioenergy programs.

PROMISE:
Touted Even Start education program.
GETTING IT DONE:
Slashed funding for Even Start by 20%.

PROMISE:
Touted housing programs such as HUD's Hope VI.
GETTING IT DONE:
Phases programs like HOPE VI out of the 2004 budget.

PROMISE:
Toutes need for Port Security.
GETTING IT DONE:
2003/04 Budget provides $0 for port security grants; also vetoed $39m Container Security Initiative.

PROMISE:
Promised to protect workers benefits.
GETTING IT DONE:
Relaxed rules that allow employers to convert pension plans to 'cash balance' plans that reduce workers benefits.

PROMISE:
Thanked American workers for being the best.
GETTING IT DONE:
Cut funding for job training, occupational safety and health, youth opportunity grants.

PROMISE:
Promised more secure borders.
GETTING IT DONE:
No additional money for INS/Border Patrol. Cut pay upgrades. Slashed budget for 'Border and Transportation Security'.

I could go on. The obvious point is that Bush promises a lot, then doesn't deliver. The biggest one right now is the benefits for military, but this above, and more, are just more promises he has made and broken.

If GWB goes to 2009, we'll all be flat broke busted...
