RE UPS: a UPS will save more than just your data. it will help your computer live longer too. for instance, most people don't know that if your computer suddenly loses power, files on your hard drive will fragment. some fragmentation might not be repairable with a defragmenter.

a UPS is a very worthwhile investment IMO.
