And as far as I know, only Linux 2.39/2.4 and Windows 2000 can be used on a Legacy Free machine. I think the interesting part is, that it takes installation, configuration etc. out of the private user's hands (because of USB) and hopefully generates cheaper hardware.

So with Linux we could get $375 PCs and with Windows 2000 we could get $525 PCs.

Maybe those machines will replace IBMs expensive thin clients, since they cost almost the same, and if you do not install Windows 2000 on them, administration cost will be low, too.

I wonder if Microsoft is ever able to stop developing on Windows 95/98/ME. They really need this low-price alternative to Win2K.
