Quite the contrary, scalability is an advantage with VSNT. Look at applications and transaction processing requirements of latest clients (e.g. France Telecom, Ericsson, GE/Harris, etc.). These all require very robust, reliable and scalable ODBMSes.

Ask your technology folks about object locking vs. page locking. Therein lies a major difference in the technology. I think both companies (VSNT and ODIS) will prosper as the demand for ODBMS grows at the middle-tier level. Again, take a look at WebSphere (IBM) and WebLogic (BEA), as well as VSNT's JavaBean Enterprise Container (JEC) technology and you will begin to see the potential in this area.

Also remember that VSNT has dramatically improved its balance sheet and is turning the corner on profitability. Cowen has put a $.30/share earnings figure out there for 2000. This could be just the beginning.
