Ken, The behavior you are describing has to due with the amount of memory you have...... Based on your description your video card only has 1M of Video memory. 2M is an absolute minimum in my opinion..... 1024 x 768 x 1 byte per pixel = 768K of Memory < 1M 1024 x 768 x 2 bytes per pizel = 1.5M of memory > 1M 800 x 600 x 1 Byte per pixel = 480K of memory < 1M 800 x 600 x 2 Bytes per pizel = 960K of memory < 1M. So you have Three choices.... 1. Upgrade the memory on your video card to 2M.... 2. Buy a video card with at least 2M memory.... 3. run lower res with higher colors or go back to your original settings.... Judging from the fact that you said its less than an year old I would guess that its a compaq presario/packard bell or some of retail giant brand of computer??? Am I right?? :) Sean higher resolution with lower color or lower resolution with high color...
