Hello Elmo, a general rule of thumb and one that is considered conservative is not to expect more than a 50% premium from the price the stock is trading. At $9, the takeover will be valued at approx. $13 1/2. At $8, the company will be worth approx. $12. The best case scenerio is a 66% premium but that only for growth oriented stocks.
NOVL is not seen as a company with growth BUT is seen as a company with losing market share. Do you agree ?

Nobody has anything solid to say for that is almost like knowing where the stock is heading. You nor I would be on this board if we could predict the future......in the stock market, fundamental, technical and human emotions besides some other factors are playing a big role.
In some cases it is not too difficult to come up with a prediction with 90% confidence level (as in the case of the direction of NOVL and MSFT) and in some case it is (as in DEC, IBM etc....).

You are the best judge...so use your wisdom and experience wisely.
