Yeah Rocky, Certainly poor reporting, typos, misquotes, and internal/external comparisons are all possible explanations of the price difference, especially since this is all a rumor at this point.

I will point out the following however:

The product that has caught the attention of Rosencrans is believed to be a 1-gigabyte portable storage/backup drive that will touch what Rosencrans calls the ''golden $200 price point'' for a computer peripheral. By contrast, Iomega's comparable 1-gigabyte Jaz drive retails for $399.

The above snip was taken from HG's column and would tend to indicate that the $199 vs $299 rumored price change was not the result of mistakenly comparing an internal to an external. (Rosencrans was the same HD Brous & Co. analyst who was interviewed in both HG's column and the Business Times article).
