With few exceptions, A GM is just an "uncool" car, and they have to change that to attract different segments of the customer base to the brand.

This, I can't say about. I know that the 'vette is still pretty cool and the Escalade is popular amongst pimps and rappers. I guess it comes down to what one things is "cool". I have to say, that I've driven a few rental Chevs. lately that I thought were not half bad -- but if I can buy a competing Nissan for the same money, I'd still do that. That probably says more about Nissan's brand than it does about Chev's.

I don't argue that, but it's a tactical goal...when the crisis is over they are back to square one with a tired product, a disenfranchised customer base and meaner and hungrier competition.

I think it probably is tactical for them and that's why they're in such a jam, because strategically, they cannot return to profitability as long as the UAW is calling the shots.
