Bert, That is how I feel. One wonders what is the real reason for this flash mechanism? I do know that the software industry will wish to have such a thing, witness their legal assaults on everyone who infringes, esp at the corporate level where they now try to remove any ability to add/remove software from anyones system in large Companies. Part of this is to avoid crashes from weird stuff being loaded, but a major part is to avoid getting sued because 200 engineers copied autocad to all machines from 2-3 licences. It happens, witness the dongle and how it has flourished. This may just replace the dongle for some high end stuff and the broad low end apps may get left the way they are for just the reasons you have cited.
