Maybe goldman winds up with ML much like JPM got smith barney. Then they could merge BA and CITI and separate out good bank and bad bank (bad assets). Bad bank can make money on lousy assets appreciation from bargain basement price of zero they carry them out. Good bank now national in scope can sell off some duplicated branches etc and prosper. This takes care of the future of GS, Citi, BA and ML all in one shot.
The real joke is that just one month after BA pressured into buying ML, now the govt thinks financial supermarkets no good and force C into jettisoning SB.
