Well, I don't know much about Denard although I've heard the name in a past life.

Bin Laden?? E. Africa? I believe the evidence thus far gathered indicates his culpability in those events.

The killings in Yemen? Haven't followed it much. Not sure if Bin Laden was implicated there.

But I have questions as to how our gov't has pursued Bin Laden. It seemed the first choice of politico-military power by the US was to fling some expensive Tomahawks against a suspected nerve gas pre-cursor factory that wasn't, and a training camp in Afghanistan.

Neither of which strike me as terribly poor target analysis and a poor usage for scarce DOD resources.

It begs the question as to why we did not focus on the financial end of the Bin Laden equation. Cut his financial resources and you cut his ability to maneuver his personnel and resources effectively.

Bin Laden, by the way, apparently has lost much of his support in Afghanistain and it is rumoured he has left that country for parts unknown. He is now a pariah and can only live under the good graces of a foreign gov't.

And those foreign gov'ts have to wrestle with the fear that our information gathering assets have discovered the level of their collusion and may exact retaliation upon them for any overly catastrophic attacks against US interests.

As I stated before, the trick to terrorism is not to provoke them to the extent that you bring massive retaliation upon yourself, your group, or your hosts providing you sanctuary.

And the trick to counter-terrorism seems to be never letting the terrorists know exactly what is considered an intolerable act and then hitting them when they least expect it.

Tell you what, though. If either you or I run across Bin Laden first, how about a gentleman's agreement to split the reward money between us??

Ron
