Standard & Poor's said today it would make a change to the S&P/TOPIX 150 Index,
covering the Japanese market, after the close of trading on Thursday, April 27
(US).

The Investible Weight Factor for Nikko Securities would be changed from .76 to

EARNINGS RESULTS....... PENNSYLVANIA:

Vishay Intertechnology CEO Dr. Felix Zandman announced today that net earnings
in the first quarter of 2000 were a record $US74,271,000 or $0.84 per share on
sales of $538,894,000. Sales increased 27% compared to the first quarter of 1999
and 15% from the fourth quarter. CALIFORNIA:

Callaway Golf Company reported net sales of $M206.6 for the first quarter, an 11
per cent increase over last year's comparable period. The company said it had
achieved a new record level of sales. Net income increased 26 per cent to $M16.2
and diluted earnings per share were up 22 per cent to $0.22.

STRATEGIC MERGER....... CALIFORNIA:

Komag, Incorporated and HMT Technology Corp. today announced that they had
agreed to a strategic merger of equals "to create the world's leading supplier

Lincoln Electric Holdings announced today that it had made an offer to acquire
Charter plc, a London-based multinational industrial corporation, pending

Visteon Corporation said today it had named Barbara Quilty director of global
compensation planning. She would be responsible for developing and launching

Corporation's family of complementary Gigabit four-channel "quad"

The Fiji Islands government today announced Cabinet approval of legislation
