CSCO and GE are smart enough to realize that it doesn't
pay off to act like complete "maniacs" as MSFT appears to
think is necessary

Both CSCO and GE had severe corrections like what MSFT is having in the past 10 years (CSCO twice, GE 3 times, MSFT 3 times). There is no doubts that stocks like GE and CSCO are few and far between in history, in terms of persistent good returns over long period of time. For MSFT, maybe it just had bad luck, like everyone does once in a while. The anti-trust law may be helpful to break some mature businesses where the growth no longer exists, not to a business with 30% growth. Guess Gates did not out-smart those who applied the anti-trust laws, like we can't out guess what the ***** will do next. What happened to LCOS today could happen to the post-split of MSFT, if MSFT is still this low.
