Satire is clearly protected as a form of free speech. Souter has written extensively on this. The standard for libeling a celebrity is extremely high and includes falsehood with malice and nonsatirical intent, next to impossible to prove.

Now what SI, which is private, chooses to enforce is its own business. Personally I think there are bigger fish to fry.
