The problem with North East politicians is that they indulge in " intellectual" politics. When attacked, they do not rebut early enough. It happened to Dukakis, Kerry and Romney. On Hillary, she is very very well known, not just here in the U.S. But even around the world. I know of no U.S. Politician running for the Presidency that has as much of a name recognition as she does.

By raising this immigration issue, she is in the driver's seat. By breaking with Obama and the Republicans who support him on the trade deal, she has shown her independence.

So her attackers have their work cut out.
